Obama Out!No Drama Obama, Thank You, Mr. President Party at African American Museum in Philadelphia

Philadelphia, (FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE) –All races, cultures, religions and sexual orientations will come together to celebrate the legacy of President Barack Obamaon Friday, January 20, 2017, 6:00-10:00 p.m. at the African American Museum in Philadelphia, located at 701 Arch Street.

The party is being sponsored by Pathfinders Travel Magazine for People of Color.

“Like so many, we were stunned, even dismayed, with the outcome of the presidential election,” said Weller Thomas, co-publisher of the Philadelphia-based magazine. “But, after careful consideration, we decided our outgoing president, who has been a stalwart champion of decency, integrity and inclusiveness, should be celebrated.”

Thomas saidhe developed a deep appreciation for global diversity during 20 years as one of the magazine’s founders. “People in the tiniest, poorest countries have shared so much with me and have always treated me with warmth and with a genuine level of love and respect,” he said. “The need was there to demonstrate there are millions of people in the United States who share that love and respect for other cultures.”

Also in attendance will be Michael I. Days, editor of the Philadelphia Daily News, who will be signing his book, Obama’s Legacy: What He Accomplished as President. Days is the first African-American to lead the paper in its 90-year history.

Organizations such as 100 Black Men Inc. and Let’s See If We Can Help, Inc. will be on hand to provide volunteer opportunities in the year ahead. Special outreach efforts have been made toensure the party is a celebration that reflects the spirit of love and hope that led to the election of the nation’s first black president. The celebration will include food and dancing.

“We want everyone to come out and enjoy themselves,” Thomas said.“And though the party is taking place on inauguration night, we want people to walk away feeling empowered and committed to do the work necessary in the coming days to make sure our country moves forward and not fall into a morass of uncivil behavior or despair.”
