Investors Watch Central Bankers for Policy Clues on Inflation and Unemployment

New York – Jackson Hole, one of the favorite vacation spots for the world famous, is again in the center of attention, with the upcoming annual world central bankers’ symposium. Two speakers who will be watched keenly are Janet Yellen of Federal Reserve and European Central Bank President, Mario Draghi.

For stock watchers, this meeting will hold many clues on where the monetary policy and interest rates could be headed. From the European perspective, the speech by Draghi will be watched for the movement of Euro that has become stronger recently. Before the event, gold prices haven’t shown any marked fluctuation.

“It will be interesting to listen to the speeches particularly in the context of inflation and unemployment, two issues that have been interlinked and hotly debated,” said Strahan McNeil.

Major central banks have in the past striven to decrease unemployment rates by targeting a higher inflation rate of around 2 percent. The fate of this relationship and the policy moves are what remain in the dark, and thus the symposium has assumed importance for economists and investors.
