Detroit Father Launches Fatherless-2-Fatherhood, a Platform to Mentor Fatherless Children

Detroit father and community ambassador, DK Williams, has launched a new project, "Fatherless-2-Fatherhood" (F2F) to combat the virtual epidemic of fatherlessness in the US. Being denied a father-figure need not turn into a vicious cycle, and F2F aims to give a voice to fatherless children living in under-served communities to stay positive and grow into healthy adulthood.

If the joys of fatherly love are many and profound, equally strong are the pain and suffering for those who went without it. The high prevalence of fatherlessness in urban communities is associated with several societal evils and challenges, such as crime, alcohol and drug abuse, teenage pregnancy and suicide. F2F aims to ensure that mentorship, support and opportunities are available to fatherless children to help them overcome their challenges without falling prey to negative influences.

Williams experienced up, close and personal the foundation of not having a father around him since a young age. He remembers crying out to seek an authentic relationship with his father through teary letters. Williams, expected to be either dead or incarcerated, went on to receive distinct education services at Washtenaw Technical Middle College. This opportunity afforded him both a high school diploma and Associate’s degree in Liberal Arts.

Williams has turned his pain into purpose through community outreach and leadership development activities since the age of twelve. He is the founder of Next Dimension Network, a group of connectors, collaborators and communicators who want to use their skills to better inspire and influence a generation, one life at a time. Williams is also a business analyst at Quicken Loans, and an international motivational speaker sharing his personal journey with the rest of the world.

Through F2F Williams is exposing the epidemic of fatherlessness and all the ills it is likely to produce in generations to come. From small group discussions to community workshops, he is sharing his story of enjoying fatherhood and giving something to the world from a place that you never received. F2F is Williams’ way to share the opportunities that he received, and pay it forward.
