Highly Regarded Registered Nurse, Rita L. Secola, PhD, RN, CPON, FAAN, will be Noted in the Worldwide Leaders in Healthcare

The International Nurses Association is pleased to welcome Rita L. Secola, PhD, RN, CPON, FAAN, to their prestigious organization with her upcoming publication in the Worldwide Leaders in Healthcare. Rita L. Secola is an established Registered Nurse and Clinical Services Director at the Children's Hospital of Los Angeles (CHLA) in Los Angeles, California. With more than three decades of experience in nursing, she is a specialist nursing director, pediatric nurse and hematology/oncology/bone marrow transplant nurse.

Rita gained her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from the Carlow College School of Nursing in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, becoming a Registered Nurse. She later gained her Master of Science Degree in Nursing from the University of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania, and also holds a Doctor of Philosophy Degree from the University of California Los Angeles School of Nursing. Rita is also a Certified Pediatric Oncology Nurse, and has earned the coveted title of Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing.

Rita remains a distinguished member of the Association of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Nurses and the Nurse Leader of the Pediatric Blood & Marrow Transplant Consortium. Rita has presented extensively on pediatric and pediatric oncology-related topics as well as published in various cancer, pediatric and nursing journals. Rita’s research work and expertise are related to eliminating central line bloodstream infections in pediatric oncology patients. For her work in nursing education and leadership, she has received awards from Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles, Advance for Nurses Southern California, Southern California Association of Pediatric Hematology Oncology Nurses and the Association of Pediatric Hematology Oncology Nurses. She is a past President of the Association of Pediatric Hematology Oncology Nurses.

Alongside her work as Clinical Services Director, she also serves as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the University of California Los Angeles School of Nursing. When she is not working, Rita enjoys travel, shopping and road biking.
