CUSTOMIZED HERMES BAG HITS CHRISTIE'S AUCTION HIGH

December 11, 2017: In a stunning online holiday auction, Christie's of New York sold over a million dollars in rare designer handbags. Selling in the Top Ten at a price of almost 40k was a bag that created a phenomenon online and on Instagram.

From the mysterious TOILE BLANC line, the bag became known as "The Lip Bag" in chat rooms and on fashion blogs. Featured prominently in the Christie's catalogue, it's stunning pink color and amazing artwork made it this year's standout.

The bag was a customized Hermes Barenia leather and canvas Birkin created in collaboration with the company's chief designer, Carly Hall. In previous years, another TOILE BLANC handbag was chosen as director's pick by Christie's.

A visit to their website shows that no bags are currently available, leading to speculation that perhaps an exclusivity arrangement has been made with the auction house, though no information is listed there.

Handbag and Hermes enthusiasts are greatly anticipating the appearance of more customized TOILE BLANC bags in the next Christie's online auction. In a call to Christie's, however, a representative could not divulge if or how many would be included.
