NCCT Just Named #1 Marriage Counseling Retreat in America

The Northampton Center for Couples Therapy, or NCCT, has long enjoyed local acclaim for its specialized approach to couples counseling.

Employing a staff of nine licensed therapists who focus solely on treating couples, they are the go-to place for anyone looking for tools to build a stronger relationship in New England.

However, the Massachusetts center has also gained notoriety nationwide. An article published in December 2017 by Laurie Burnham, titled “8 Best Marriage Counseling Retreats in the US” listed NCCT as the #1 retreat destination for married couples across the country.

The article compares each retreat on a variety of factors: cost, time commitment, location, methodologies used and the one-on-one attention each couple receives.

Across all five categories, NCCT came out on top.

Because their practice focuses on the treatment of couples, NCCT is able to apply a wide variety of approaches to help each partner find success. Every process starts with a Gottman Assessment, based on the Gottman Method by John M. Gottman. Then, as therapy progresses, each therapist will employ strategies from EFT, emotionally focused therapy, the PACT Method by Stan Tatkin and more.

Also, all NCCT therapists are trained to perform state-dependent therapy. They engage with couples while they are in the very same state they find themselves in at home. In other words, they meet them where they are at, rather than standing on the sidelines offering advice.

“We meet people in the place of dysregulation and step things up slowly, using tools for intervention to get them where they want to be,” says NCCT Founder Kerry Lusignan.
