Galaxy Glow in the Dark Stars A Perfect Purchase For These Upcoming June Sky Events!

Galaxy Glow Stars is a new toy company founded in 2016 by a husband and wife duo. They both loved the simple vintage glow in the dark stars they enjoyed as children but wanted to add a little bit of astronomy to the mix. They added a visually stimulating constellation guide that is an excellent way to introduce astronomy and science to kids of all ages.

Even though most children are out of school parents can use these glow in the dark stars along with weekly sky events as a learning activity while also having fun! Use the accompanying guide recreate the constellations that coincide with these weekly events.

This week's event include:

1. June 9th- Saturn poses with the Moon- The second largest planet in the solar system will appear to cozy up to Earth’s lone natural satellite on June 9. The moon will be only three degrees to the right of golden-yellow Saturn, and the pair will rise over the southeast horizon just after local twilight. After viewing this event children can recreate the constellations of Sagittarius and Scorpio.

2. June 14th-Saturn at it's prime time- Saturn will put on its best show of the year, when the majestic planet reaches what’s known as opposition. This is the point in time when it lies opposite to the sun in our sky. Not only does the gas giant stay visible all night, rising in the east at sunset and setting in the west at dawn, but it also lies closest to Earth, at a mere 840 million miles. This means Saturn will shine it's brightest and longest for backyard telescopes and be very visible for the month of June and July. Not to worry if you don't have a telescope; it will be easy to view even to the naked eye. It will appear as a golden-yellow star.

3. June 20th- Moon visits Venus- An hour before local sunrise the crescent moon will be visible in a tight formation with the brightest star-like object in the sky; Venus.
