UK Security Company Launch Managed Cyber Protection Service for Homes and SMEs UK Security Company Launch Managed Cyber Protection Service for Homes and SMEs

24th March 2017, Ludlow, Shropshire. UK.  Idappcom, a network security assessment tools and services specialist, has announced the launch of a business-strength cyber-protection service designed to provide enhanced data security for home and small business Internet users.

The service, a first for the UK, adds an extra layer of security to users’ AV and firewall software to provide enhanced protection against Internet based threats that can result in ID theft and financial losses as well as disrupt access to files and personal data stored on their PCs.

Users are provided with a low-cost, compact device running the same industry standard Intrusion Prevention software that is widely used in corporate networks to block cyber-attacks and minimise the chances of a successful data leakage event. Connected to the ISP router the device acts as secure broadband access hub for any PC, laptop, tablet or smart device such as a security camera or connected TV.

Once the device is set-up it establishes a permanent, two-way connection to the Idappcom SOC via a Cloud VPN service to enable the device to be auto-updated with the latest security rules every 24 hours. Users can select from a range of rule-update subscription options appropriate to their own usage needs.

After the service has been activated, the system is remotely monitored and managed 24/7 by a team of network security experts, with minimal input needed from the user. If required users can access detailed activity reports via the service portal or opt to receive regular email or SMS updates, providing information on what attacks have been detected and blocked for a specified time period.

At launch, the service offers a choice of three hardware options. The HIPSY for home and family protection, The BIPSY for small businesses and the GIPSY, which is a portable device for use when connecting via a public or guest Wifi access point.

Ray Bryant, Idappcom CEO commented “Through our work providing security assessment tools and exploit traffic files for major vendors and large enterprises, we were very aware that the network edge was getting wider and harder to define or defend as more people were connecting to the Internet using personal smart devices and insecure home and public access points.

With our extensive experience of testing network sensors and developing a library including thousands of exploit traffic files and policy rulesets it was an obvious step to extend this as a service for users that would not normally consider investing in this level of cyber-protection, mainly for lack specialist skills and financial reasons.

I am delighted to say that in the first few weeks since our official launch we have had a very encouraging response, particularly from home users concerned about the threats posed through phishing attacks and the recent revelations around the inherent vulnerability in IoT devices and Smart appliances. We are also now in advance discussions with Telco’s in Asia PAC region interested in adding cyber-protection to their service portfolio for their domestic and business customers”

Prices for the service in the UK start at around £20 per month including the cost of the appliance and rule update subscription. Users can find more information and sign up online at
