FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Chicago, Illinois - September 2, 2015 - The new, mind-bending thriller “Altered” picked up 9 award nominations for the film's World Premiere at the prestigious Action On Film International Film Festival.
Filmed in Chicago, IL, Gary, IN, and Atlanta, GA, "Altered" makes its official World Premiere at the Action On Film International Film Festival at the Krikorian Theaters in Monrovia, California on September 19th, 2015.
Del Weston, Founder and Director of Action On Film, calls the twisted thriller, “One of the most disturbing and beautiful pieces of art I have ever seen."
Starring Robert Pralgo ("Vampire Diaries," "Furious 7") and Amanda Dreschler ("Lost Angels," "Perception"), the new film by Award Winning writer/director Kely McClung ("Blood Ties," "AM Session," "Kerberos") pushes boundaries in genre and structure, deftly crossing back and forth between thriller, horror, and poignant, emotional drama.
The story follows a beautiful, naive young woman as she navigates a constantly changing cast of characters in Chicago's seedy underbelly when she is thrust into the hunt for brutal, seemingly supernatural serial killer.
"The great thing about independent film today is there is no excuse or reason to limit yourself in terms of acting, production values, or story content," says "Altered" film director, Kely McClung.
Featuring a cast from Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, and Atlanta, the filmmakers drew on relationships both here and abroad for the extensive post production, with sound mixing at the world famous Twickenham Film Studios in London, Visual FX with Magnet FX in Munich, and final color grading and 2K conforming in Berlin at CineChromatix.
The film's strong, unflinching examination of religious themes, the sometimes terrifying Chicago underground club scene, and the horror that men visit upon each other, have brought the film additional nominations including "Best Horror," "Best Cinematography," "Best Editing," "Best Visual Effects," "Best Special Effects," "Best Produced Screenplay," and "Best Art Work." The "Altered" screenplay previously won "Best Screenplay" in 2010.
Kely McClung is an award winning writer/director, having won awards for "Best Director," "Best Film," "Best Cinematography," "Best Editing," "Best Picture," "Action Film of the Year", and "Best international Film" at festivals in the US, Puerto Rico, and the UK. He was proclaimed as "One of the Top 100 Independent Filmmakers," in Del Weston's 2014 book of the same name. Kely McClung is the former International Full Contact Stick Fighting Champion. Mr. McClung was inducted in the Martial Arts Hall of Honours in Munich in 2012 as a film director, and will be inducted again in 2016 for his on-going contributions to martial arts.
