Kids with Cancer now have a Champion in Chocolate.

Winston Salem, North Carolina - BraveHearts for Kids, a non-profit 501(c)3 organization dedicated to helping families stricken by pediatric cancer is excited to announce Marcia Tabram Philips “Chef Chocolate” has been elected Vice President of the Board.

BraveHearts For Kids mission is to provide life-saving hope and inspiration to families facing a pediatric cancer order through outreach, information and mentoring. Founded in 2008 by Jeremy and Amy Jacobs, after their own daughter Ava was diagnosed with Medulloblastoma brain tumor at only 13 months old. In a recent interview, Jeremy describes: “That moment changed our lives down to the very core of our being. The journey we traveled brought us to our knees, shattering our paradigms of everything we knew as “normal”. By chance we discovered an alternate approach not available at our hospital.”

The treatment that saved their daughters life, was “Proton Radiation Therapy” which selectively targets the tumor while greatly minimizing damage to surrounding brain tissue. While Ava was treated at MD Anderson Hospital, the Jacobs met other pediatric cancer families who had traveled to Houston from all over the country. Many had sold their homes and quit their jobs to be there.  “And yet”, Jeremy says wistfully, “… We knew of so many other  families who couldn’t afford the very best that medicine could offer, even when insurance was there to help”.  Read More at:
