Announcing the Release of New Juvenile Fiction: Little Rosa by Mr. E

June 17, 2017 – Denver, CO, Phoenix, AZ, and West Hollywood, CA – Tempe, AZ, author “Mr. E” has released a new children’s book, Little Rosa, featuring a young Rosa Parks. The book has been published by Perky Penguin Press and was written to give K-3 students a conceptual understanding of Parks’ struggle.

In this charming, 32-page picture book, Little Rosa boards the bus one moring for school, thinking it will be just another boring ride. But not this week! Every day Rosa discovers a new, crazy animal on the bus—extremely rude fellow passengers who send her to the back of the bus just because she isn’t as wild as they are.  She is disgusted by their behavior and soon discovers the key to beating her oppressors. But is it already too late as she confronts the king of all animals?

Little Rosa is a delightful fable with a big message, laying the foundation for K-3 students to begin meaningful conversations about oppression, discrimination and equal rights. It’s never too early to give kids a role model, and Rosa Parks is one of the best!

The author has a master’s degree in early childhood education and has spent almost 20 years teaching K-3 students. He has also taught ESL and Gifted cluster classes in both low economic and high economic areas. Mr. E is in awe of Rosa Parks’ strength and courage, and he is continually inspired by strong modern voices for diversity, including Barack Obama, Whoopi Goldberg, and Ellen DeGeneres.
