World Harmony Bell Rings in Peace in D.C.

The World Harmony Bell, made of recycled weapons donated by the Chinese military, will be rung by Capitol Hill schoolchildren from one of the schools that successfully persuaded Congress to declare an day of peace and sharing seven years ago, and again last year.

Who: Delegations from the Chinese World Harmony Foundation as well as representatives of Globalfamily Day and of the Chinese Embassy, will join schoolchildren in ringing the bell as a kick-off for 101 Days of Peace and Sharing between now and Globalfamily Day on January 1.

What: The bell will be rung in the Stuart-Hobson Middle School playground during lunchtime, and students signing the Peace and Sharing 101 pledge will have their pictures taken in the Globalfamily living logo. Visitors from China will honor the children.

When: 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 19.
