When an alarm is detected, the system will text message a mobile phone (up to 3 numbers) and/or send an email. BoatNanny has a built-in GSM cell phone, and utilizes any pre-paid SIM card from T-Mobile or Cingular ($.05/call), or the pre-installed SIM phone card from T-Mobile. There are no additional monthly fees or charges.
Unlike other boat security systems, the BoatNanny is wireless and simple to install. Most installations take 15-30 minutes and can done by anyone. There's no need to install keypads or run power wires. The compact base unit plugs into any AC outlet or DC (cigarette) power, and is programmed by sending a text message to the unit. The BoatNanny has rechargeable batteries, and because of it'ss intelligent power management software, it consumes little power (typical 50mA), allowing its use on small vessels on moorings or at slips with no AC power.
