Well-known Motivational Speaker and Realtor Fights Against Domestic Violence

Realtor Mara Bennett partners with non-profit to educate public during
Domestic Violence Month

Orange County, CA – October is Domestic Violence Month and Inspiring Motivational Speaker and realtor, Mara Bennett partners with “La Mujer de Hoy” to provide self-empowerment, job preparedness and self-esteem building. She has joined other community leaders in the Anaheim Mariachi Festival on Saturday, October 6, 2007. Proceeds from the event will go to local non-profit organizations.
Approximately 5.3 million cases of domestic violence occurs among US women 18 and older each year which results in nearly 2 million injuries. About 324,000 women experience domestic violence each year during pregnancy. In addition, more than three women are murdered by their husbands/boyfriends everyday in the US. And 50% to 70% of men who abuse women also abuse children. (source YWCA)
“I want to help other women and the community in this fight against domestic violence. It is my passion, I know what is like and I know there is hope for everyone. If we join hands with the community we will be able to win the battle,” says Bennett.
A domestic violence survivor, Bennett has dedicated her life to inspire women and families to fight for their rights and live a happy life. She is a motivational speaker at the “La Mujer de Hoy” program which educations women about self-empowerment and self-esteem.
“Thanks to the program I was able to face my life, and realize I had dignity. I realized how much I’m worth and that one has rights,” says Guadalupe Hernandez a program participant.
“Women are transformed and ready to live the life they always wished for. Women arrive scare and insecure, and as they go through the program they are transformed from a cocoon to a butterfly,” affirms Terri Rivera, Community Services Specialist, “La Mujer de Hoy” program.

About “La Mujer de Hoy”
La Mujer de Hoy is a rehabilitation program for women who are victims of violence abuse. The program consists of six sessions providing topics such as self-empowerment, job preparedness and self-esteem building.
