Website Gives Pet Owners New Way to Channel Grief

Oct 24, 2007 -- /prbuzz/ --Bucyrus, Ohio – October 24, 2007 - A funeral video company from Ohio, Memorial Sketches, launched a new pet website on October 15, 2007, so they could offer a new way to help pet owners cope with the loss of a pet.

The site, www.ourfamilycompanion.com, is like many pet tribute sites, expect for its feature where users can make a professional quality memorial video of their pet all online and without having to learn any technical programs.

This is the only known pet site where users have fully interactive capabilities to create a memorial video of their pet. The site’s step-by-step process allows users arrange their personal photographs in any order, select their favorite music, write their own memorial story and design their case covers.

The choreography, finalizing and printing of the DVD case covers are done by the website owners. When a pet owner’s video project is done, they are shipped directly to them within seven to 14 days.

The website also has flash tutorials for users to access and for those who don’t think they are computer savvy; there is an option to have the web owners do it for them.

According to the website’s founders, Pamela and Matt Dawson, the video creation feature was the core reason for building the site. Pet owners for 17 years, they personally know the pain of losing a family companion and how everyone works through the grief they experience differently.

“We wanted to provide a new, creative way for people to channel their sorrow and express their emotions as they are trying to move through the grieving process,” said Pamela. “So we are offering what we know best - memorial videos.”

With 71.1 million households in America having at least one pet, Dawson said they believe there are many others like them who think pets should be remembered and that having a video keepsake of their pet will help console them by allowing them to relive their memories.

A portion of the proceeds from videos created at www.ourfamilycompanion.com, are being donated to the Capital Area Humane Society in Hillard, Ohio, in memory of euthanized cats.

Memorial Sketches is currently finalizing a sister site where people can create memorial videos in the same fashion for deceased family members and friends.
