Vanished Children's Alliance assists in another recovery through donated fax broadcasting system.

San Jose, Calif – November 5, 2007- On Thursday, October 25th, the Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office alerted the Vanished Children's Alliance (VCA) to the parental abduction of three siblings, ages 5, 7 and 10, by their non-custodial mother from Gilroy, California. As part of its ongoing location program, the Vanished Children's Alliance worked with Gilroy Police Department to register this case on the morning of October 26, 2007. VCA, using internet fax technologies donated by Concord Technologies of Seattle, quickly developed the missing children poster for immediate release. This fax dissemination targeted both Stanislaus and Merced Counties in California, where law enforcement believed the abducting mother may have traveled.

Of the hundreds of posters faxed by VCA, one was viewed by a Newman, California (Stanislaus County) resident on October 31st. This resident recognized the children and informed law enforcement of their whereabouts. This allowed officers to arrive on scene and recover the children and take the abductor into custody. According to Georgia K. Hilgeman-Hammond, Executive Director and Founder of the Vanished Children's Alliance, this recovery is "great news. We are very fortunate to have such a dedicated casework staff who immediately responded to law enforcement's request to disseminate the case information which resulted in the safe recovery of these children. This is yet another example of the importance of a multi-disciplinary response in locating abducted children. In this particular case, between the Vanished Children's Alliance, the Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office, the Gilroy Police Department (Santa Clara County, CA) and the Newman Police Department (Stanislaus County, CA).”
