December 23, 2007. A new Web site, Vacation Rentals for Lake Tahoe, has been established to serve the needs of vacationers, as well as the tourism industry of Lake Tahoe. An independent group of business individuals and Lake Tahoe enthusiasts have gotten together to make a detailed web site that can serve the needs of everyone in the area.
Vacation Rentals for Lake Tahoe is destined to become the leading site for content on all aspects of enjoying Lake Tahoe. Everything from how to get there, where to stay and what to do.
Lake Tahoe is a large fresh water lake located on the border between California and Nevada. It is in the Sierra Nevada mountain range, south of Reno and west of Carson, Nevada. It is commonly praised for the clarity of its water and majestic vista of the local mountain peaks. The entire area around the lake is usually referred to as Lake Tahoe, or simply Tahoe.
Tahoe boasts world class ski resorts in addition to extensive summer outdoor recreation and many general tourist attractions. On the Nevada side of the lake can be found many exciting casinos, and luxurious resorts can be enjoyed on both sides of the lake.
The lake is the second deepest lake in the United State surpassed only by Oregon's Crater Lake. It was made by geologic block faulting in the Sierra mountains approximately 2 million years ago. Tahoe is the youngest of a number of basins in the geologic formations that constitute the Sierra and Carson Ranges.
Several peaks in the area approach or exceed the 10,000 foot level and the slopes and valleys between the mountains create the ideal skiing conditions in the area.
The weather at Tahoe is ideal for both summer and winter sports activities. Annual rain and snowfall ranges between 26 and 55 inches. August is the warmest month with an normal temperature of about 78 degrees Fahrenheit and January is the coldest month with an average temperature of 41 degrees.
The vegetation in the area is mostly mixed conifer forests of Jeffrey and lodgepole pine. The area also features many wet and dry meadows and fields and rocky outcroppings.
Tourism is the chief economic activity. In the winter skiers and winter sport enthusiasts flock to the major ski areas such as Heavenly, Squaw Valley, Alpine Meadows, Diamond Peak at Incline Village, Northstar and Kirkwood. Other popular ski spots typically include Sierra-at-Tahoe, Boreal, Sugar Bowl, Donner, Homewood and Mount Rose.
Between spring and fall the lake hosts many water sports activities including boating, sailing, cruising and swimming. Other summer sports activities include biking and hiking.
For those with an interest in gamboling, the Nevada side of the lake is the place featuring such fine casinos as Harrah's Lake Tahoe, Harveys Lake Tahoe, Bill's Casino, MonBleu Resort and Lakeside Inn.
Vacation Rentals for Lake Tahoe is a volunteer effort created to serve the needs of the tourism industry of Lake Tahoe, as well as vacationers to the area. It was founded in cooperation with the FYI A to Z network of consumer content websites, a volunteer effort to offer unbiased consumer material at no charge.
