Dec 18, 2007 -- /prbuzz/ --SANTA MONICA, Calif. (December 6, 2007) – Userplane, (www.userplane.com), the premier application platform for online communities and a wholly owned subsidiary of AOL, today announced that it has paid out more than $500,000 in just six months to Web publishers that have implemented Userplane Money.
Userplane Money is a revenue-sharing solution that serves up unobtrusive ads in Userplane applications, including its Webmessenger IM, Webchat, and widgets offerings. This has been a financial boom to social networks, online niche hobbyist communities, and other types of Web publishers seeking to increase revenue without compromising the tone and personality of their online communities.
Perfspot, a flourishing new social networking destination, has been adding “significant” revenue since signing on to Userplane Money.
“Userplane has found a way to give us the feature-rich applications our users love, along with built-in additional revenue stream,“ said Hart Cunningham, CEO of Perfspot. “The application was easy to install, and signing up for Userplane Money revenue sharing required no additional effort on our part. Userplane is a win/win scenario for all concerned, and is helping us succeed in our competitive market niche.”
“Enhancing websites with engaging technology that also provides revenue is the core value Userplane strives to provide,” said Michael Jones, CEO of Userplane and Senior Vice President of AOL. “Userplane Apps now can provide real monetary value to small and large publishers.”
According to eMarketer, companies spent $23.6 billion on online advertising in 2006. This number is expected to rise to $61.9 billion by 2011. As advertisers increasingly seek more targeted channels to deliver relevant messages, Userplane Money gives those communities with loyal audiences a way to capture some of that advertising spend.
Launched earlier this year, Userplane Money is a revenue-sharing program that helps websites of any size make money. So far, thousands of sites have joined Userplane Money, including many of Userplane’s top publishers. Any website can sign up merely by agreeing to the terms of service. Once a $25 minimum is met, publishers can request and receive their revenue share via PayPal, typically within 30 days.
Userplane attracts a wide variety of site publishers – from social-networking communities to dating sites to blogs to news and entertainment sites. Its tools enable millions of daily users in more than 30 countries.
