U-MELT (Down) – Fall/Winter Trek On The Horizon

Nov 02, 2007 -- /prbuzz/ --When the New York City based U-Melt takes their four piece sonic barrage on the road this fall/winter, Midwest and East Coast audiences will be treated to an aural experience unlike any other. Known for their spacious sound and penchant for pushing jams into the upper reaches of the stratosphere, U-Melt has built a reputation as one of the hardest working bands in the biz. Not one to be pigeonholed as simply a jam band, the quartet blends elements of rock, jazz, trance and funk and fuses them into a musical state of mind.

On the band’s latest release, U-Melt carves their sometimes expansive jams into studio friendly masterpieces. Where few bands make a flawless transition from a live to a studio setting, the group thrives in both environments. Featuring Rob Salzer (guitar, vocals), George Miller (drums, vocals), Zac Lasher (keyboards, vocals), and Adam Bendy (bass, vocals), U-Melt boasts an impressive array of musical ability. Each member of the band contributes to the final product, with every musician adding their own bits of style and harmonious flair. The result is the ability for the four individuals to twist and turn freely within the compositions and explore different musical avenues along the song’s journey.

Drawing influences from a vast collection of artists across the musical soundscape,
U-Melt cites musicians from The Beatles to Pink Floyd to Frank Zappa as a primary source of inspiration. Salzer’s guitar lines are fluid and focused and are the perfect compliment to Lasher’s atmospheric keyboard arrangements. Miller and Bendy provide the rhythmic backbone with an unyielding collection of proficient beats and bass lines. The aforementioned combination of the lead and rhythm sections has been known to transform the U-Melt live experience into a full-fledged dance party.

The group is on a continuing path of evolution, bolstered by the relentless touring schedule and ever-growing fan-base. Plans include an extensive west coast tour slated for 2008 in order to visit with current fans as well as attract new fans. Their dedication to the music shines through each member’s technical abilities and musical prowess. The upcoming tour kicks off in Pittsburgh, PA and winds through the Midwest before returning back east for dates up and down the coast.
