“One in Seven” Tribute to Debut on October 13th in Miami Design District

Christine Horner, M.D., Keynote Speaker; Championed National Campaign to Pass Laws Requiring Breast Reconstruction After a Mastectomy

Miami, FL -- Approximately one in seven women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime. The need to make women of all ages aware of this staggering statistic will come to life with an innovative photographic exhibit by Pulitzer Prize winning photographer Ginny Dixon, the “One in Seven Project.” The exhibit will feature one survivor and six of her friends in smaller supporting images.

The show will debut on Saturday, October 13th at the Newton Building (3901 NE 2nd Avenue) in the Miami Design District from 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. The event will mark the launch of www.erasebreastcancer.org, a new website dedicated to making women aware of breast health and possible preventative measures.

Survivor, artist and filmmaker Sonia Baez-Hernandez will incorporate dance and art inspired by her experience with breast cancer. Baez-Hernandez’ documentary, Territories of the Breast, will also be showing during the event. Author, dancer and survivor Cathee Connor will be on hand to promote her book, Psalms in the Dance of Life and perform her “Dance of Life”.

Individual tickets are $15 in advance, $20 at the door; sponsorships available from $125 to $1,000. Donations will benefit EraseBreastCancer.org (EBC), a non-profit organization which supports a web-based forum devoted to breast health education.
