THEATRICALS! OPENS APRIL 13TH

2007-03-22 /prbuzz/ -- Red Rocks Community College Theatre presents an original two-part extravaganza of music and melodrama this April. Theatricals! will feature “The Haunted Mine at Lonesome Place” written by Pamela Jamruszka Mencher with music and lyrics by Jordan R. Mencher and an old fashioned 19th century Olio show that includes famous songs and monologues from the turn of the century. Theatricals! will perform April 13-29, 2007 in the Red Rocks Community College Theatre at Red Rocks Community College.

Theatricals! begins with a vivacious variety of music and melodrama in “The Haunted Mine at Lonesome Place” ,a spoof on the Nineteenth Century American Melodrama complete with footlights, rolling backdrops and the ever essential smarmy villain. The evening continues with a uniquely staged 19th century Olio show. Olio, meaning miscellany, will be just that, a masterful miscellany of stupendous spectaculars as Red Rocks takes us back to the turn of the century with dramatic recitations, songs such as Sweet Betsy from Pike, and dances such as the Cakewalk. A family friendly show; Theatricals! is purely fun entertainment that is sure to delight audiences of all ages. Theatricals! will perform on Friday and Saturday nights at 7:30 p.m. April 13, 14, 20, 21, 27, 28, and Sunday matinees at 2:00 p.m. on April 22 and 29.

Tickets are $10 for adults, $9 for seniors and $8 for students. RRCC Students with current ID are free with a voucher available from Student Life. Reservations may be made by calling 303-914-6458.

All performances will be held in the Red Rocks Community College Theatre, located at the west end of the main campus building, downstairs. RRCC is located at 13300 W. 6th Ave in Lakewood (on the 6th Avenue Frontage Road between the Union & Indiana exits).
