The Ryan Montbleau Band Announces Fall CD Release Tour

Nov 02, 2007 -- /prbuzz/ --Following-up their critically acclaimed debut recording One Fine Color (2006), Ryan Montbleau Band will release a new record on October 9. The date of this independent release, entitled Patience on Friday, was timed to coincide with the band’s Northeast Fall Tour, which takes place throughout the month of October. Putting their time and money where their hearts are, Ryan Montbleau Band has also committed a cut of ticket sales on the Northeast Fall Tour to The Rex Foundation. This non-profit charitable organization, founded in 1983 by The Grateful Dead, has granted $8.2 million of support to over 1,000 individuals and organizations since its inception.

For Patience on Friday Ryan Montbleau Band returned to Applehead Recording, the band's home away from home on a small farm in Woodstock, NY. Tracking began in March and the band has worked diligently all year to produce an album that is rooted in the same sonic richness as One Fine Color. Dedicated to the memory of the band's longtime friend and backup drummer, Denis Babin, the new record weaves heartfelt, poignant and even somewhat humorous songs of loss and renewal, of growing up and moving on, into one cohesive collection of music. The songs range from ragtime Americana ("Eggs," "Grain of Sand"), to folk and rock croonings ("How Many Times?," "Shine On"), to modern day R&B ("Waiting," "This") and are all tied together thematically through Montbleau's lyrics.

Patience on Friday reflects a more seasoned and confident Ryan Montbleau Band, yet the same creative eclecticism remains. In its 55 minute run time, the album features twelve new songs-- spread over 14 tracks-- that create one integrated piece of music. Patience on Friday is full of everything from 30 second voice-and-string interludes, to two minute gypsy-jazz-like numbers, to six minute, tightly structured odysseys. Joining the band in the studio were some top-notch players who helped to fill out the band’s artistic vision. Karl Berger (Jeff Buckley, Eric Dolphy, Ornette Coleman) composed and conducted several string arrangements for the album, Buddy Cage (Jerry Garcia, New Riders of the Purple Sage) contributed pedal steel guitar, saxophonist Bob Reynolds (John Mayer, Jonah Smith) and guitarist Mike Feingold (Jay-Z, Queen Latifah) can also be heard on select tracks throughout the album.

Through performing 200+ dates a year over the last three years, Ryan Montbleau Band has developed a passionate, coast-to-coast fanbase that spans the gamut of fans of roots, Americana, R&B, soul, jam music, folk and blues. They have one of the strongest MySpace presences to be found amongst independent artists (nearly 600,000 plays), strong showings in press, independent radio and at concerts, and robust album sales. One Fine Color has sold nearly 10,000 copies in the last 18 months, and their December 30, 2006 show from Albany, NY has been downloaded over 20,000 times from Archive.org. True to their grass-roots strategy and lifestyle, following the Northeast Fall Tour, they will simply continue on the road in support of Patience on Friday, returning to the Midwest (to follow-up a series of dates with Martin Sexton in September), then on to the Mountain states. In December they will tour the West Coast for the first time, following a very successful showing at The High Sierra Music Festival this past July.
