The Models Guide DVD. Three up and coming models are going to have a huge impact on the modelling industry and the welfare of others aiming to join it This revolutionary Models' Guide DVD gives clear advice from top experts along with models themselves on the correct way to join the industry, how to avoid the pitfalls and future health and lifestyle guidance:

Cover girl Charlie White (now age 13) is going to make a huge impact on the Modelling Industry as she was one out of thousands picked to feature in the first ever careers DVD about fashion modelling. Charlie's advice and tips will be featured so that other teenagers who dream of becoming a model can listen to her own experiences and are shown the correct and safe way to enter the fantastic multi billion-pound modelling industry. Since winning the first ever UK Child pageant (Junior Miss British Isles) and filming The Models' Guide, 13 year old Charlie has received many offers of Television work and is tipped to be the next Holly Willoughby

The Models' Guide, has been produced by Katie Froud of Alba Model Information which is recognised worldwide as the only independent UK Modelling watchdog and Internet Advice Service.

The founder of ALBA and campaigner for better regulation of agencies, Katie says " in a survey 1000 teenagers were asked to state their chosen career path and almost 70% stated they wanted to be a model, Sarah Doukas of Storm Model Managment has supported Alba's cause over the years they, like us, they are aware that means a very large number of people open to exploitation and loss if they do not know the correct way to join the industry".

Also contributing to the DVD is university student Ruth Waterfall - Brown (from Newcastle and studying Fashion at University in London), Ruth was discovered by Katie in the audience of the Channel 5 Trisha Goddard show (TRISHATV.COM )and catapulted onto the Catwalks and seen on Project Catwalk (Sky one TV) for 2 years running, is also one of the three models featured and giving their hints and tips. Katie comments, "Ruth has such a down to earth attitude despite her success, she is really grounded and an excellent role model to others in their twenties"

But modelling is not just for the girls, Katie explains " male modelling is very much a growing industry and acceptable, be it on the catwalk or for advertisements they can also earn good money, as can character models, so it is not all about pouting perfection." The Models' Guide also talks about character modelling and commercial and features male model John Wade (a farm worker) who entered Mr British Isles contest Katie says " has all the makings of a male pin up" - " This hunk is a real gent with the three C's - character, charisma and the camera loves him. I seriously do expect him to end up with an advertising campaign for a design fashion house, aftershave, or to even become the next Diet Coke or Cadbury man, he has got what I call - the YES factor"

The Models' Guide has had great support from those that have given input to this career guide which includes Vogue, Cosmo Girl Magazine, Sugar Magazine, Project Catwalk, TrishaTV.com top model agencies Storm and Target Models, plus the male and female models themselves.

Whether a teenager with dreams of a modelling career, or an adult wanting to know more for yourself, even those modelling already, The Models' Guide is a great gift for anyone interested in modelling as well as having been designed to go into schools Nationally so that anyone can access the information.

Sadly funding of this guide to go into schools was turned down repeatedly and Katie said "despite numerous attempts to get funding so that we can supply this guide to every senior school, college and university in the UK for free, we have not been able to achieve this, which is very upsetting and frustrating, since the careers guide also offers advice on alternative careers linked to fashion and modelling". Even if a company had sponsored it they as sponsors of The Models' Guide into schools initiative would have received great PR plus advertising on the ALBA home page ( 2,055,858 Av per week and rising 10%).

So now Katie hopes that stores such as ASDA, TESCO, Woolworths, even a teenage friendly stores such as Top Shop and many other outlets will see the great benefit they can give to young people trying to achieve their dream career and stock the DVD to make it easilly accessable.

3. New safeguards were announced by Employment Relations Minister, Gerry Sutcliffe on 27 November 2003. They are part of the revised Conduct of Employment Agencies and Employment Businesses Regulations, which come into force on 6 April 2004, and are proposed to better regulated the modelling industry. Full details are available at http://www.hmso/legislation/whatsnew.htm

4. Scouting scams run openly on the Internet and also in hotels throughout the UK and then close down without fulfilling their promises having taken large sums from eager teenagers and parents of potential child models leaving parents of children, teenagers and adults out of pocket. New regulations are due to be implemented in 2008/2009 to place a 7 day cooling off time for those that sign up, but Katie is clear that this will not put a stop to people being scammed, which is why she had provided the DVD guide.
