The Dot Net Factory's EmpowerID Suite version 4.0, scheduled for release early 2007, will be the first Identity Management and Self-Service application built on Microsoft's Windows Workflow Foundation. Dublin, Ohio – December 18, 2006 – The Dot Net Factory’s EmpowerID Suite version 4.0, scheduled for release early 2007, will be the first Identity Management and Self-Service application built on Microsoft’s Windows Workflow Foundation. Windows Workflow Foundation is a key component of the Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 and was created to provide a single workflow and business rules engine platform for building scalable enterprise applications.

Workflow-Powered Identity Management standardizes an organization’s Identity Management tasks into automated, self-documenting, and auditable processes. Workflow automation reduces the likelihood of security issues caused by human error and also increases the efficiency and speed of common administration activities such as new employee provisioning.

Key EmpowerID Workflow Features

Customizable Approval Workflows can easily be added to any Identity Management process enabling auditable chains of authority to automate user lifecycle management.
Upon time-out, approval workflows can be configured to automatically escalate a request to an alternate authority. Escalations can be based upon business rules, reporting relationships, or manual delegation by the selection of an alternate approver.
Users may submit, view, approve, or reject workflow requests using a web-based dashboard. The dashboard also comes with interfaces for users working in Microsoft SharePoint or Outlook Web Access.
All core functionality used to build the EmpowerID Suite version 4.0 is exposed as reusable Windows Workflow Foundation Activities. These activities are available for use in Microsoft Visual Studio for creating custom solutions leveraging an organization’s custom code and existing enterprise business services or components.
