The Adventures of Pink Elephant Author to Sign Books for Charitable Cause at Phoenix Zoo
Children around the world have enjoyed the playfully fun book, The Adventures of Pink Elephant by the up-coming author Christine Amamiya for months. Now they will finally be able to meet the author. On November 24th from 10am to 2pm, Christine Amamiya will be signing copies of her bestselling children’s book, The Adventures of Pink Elephant, at the Phoenix Zoo as a fundraiser to raise the awareness of elephants as an endangered species.
An $8 donation is required for an exclusive autographed book. All proceeds benefit the elephant exhibit at the Phoenix Zoo.
The book, which is available for purchase on Amazon.com is based on a dreamlike story of a pink elephant that falls out of the sky, and attempts to find its way back home. When the elephant’s two primary caretakers try to hide it from their parents, mischief ensues. The book is filled with valuable lessons, and eye-catching illustrations. For the first time the author will be offering books free of charge to those that visit the Phoenix Zoo in support of a special cause.
Christine Amamiya is a student at Phillips Exeter Academy, a celebrated poet and author. She grew up in Arizona, and her first poem was published in 2004. A 2005 Lamont Younger Poet's Prize winner, Scholastic Art and Writing Awards National Gold medalist, and three-time recipient of the Lewis Sibley Poetry Prize, currently a member of the editorial board of The Exonian, and has been published in several anthologies, including The Best Teen Writing of 2007 by the Alliance for Young Artists and Writers. Christine Amamiya is only 17, not even old enough to vote, and has already accomplished more than many authors have ever dreamed of achieving in a lifetime. This special writer will be available for the signing of her new book The Adventures of Pink Elephant at the Phoenix Zoo.
The book’s magical illustrations were created by Kazuo Miyagi, a talented artist with a passion for creating dreamlike pictures that seamlessly help forward the book’s primary theme. Miyagi is also marketing director of the publishing house, Rococo House, which published Adventures of Pink Elephant this past summer. The author and the publisher are currently working on the second volume to this ten part series that will be released next year.
With pink elephants, a 17 year old author with incredible talent, and a cause worthy of anyone’s time, the fundraising book signing event at the Phoenix Zoo is sure to be a success.
Media outlets are invited to arrive prior to the 10 am start of the book signing to interview the author of this wonderful book.
