SAFE TEEN DRIVING CLUB SUPPORTS GEORGIA TEENS RIDE WITH P.R.I.D.E. PROGRAM
May 30, 2007
Atlanta, GA –– The Safe Teen Driving Club was proud to support the Georgia Teens Ride With P.R.I.D.E. (Parents Reducing Incidents of Driver Error) program hosted by the Joshua Brown Foundation and sponsored by the University of Georgia, earlier this month. Supporters included Cingular and State Farm Insurance. The P.R.I.D.E training program helps parents and their new (or soon to be) teen drivers, ages 14-16, learn what they need to do during the 40 hours of supervised practice driving time required under Georgia law. Katrina Pittman and Wendy Bonner, both certified P.R.I.D.E. instructors -- along with law enforcement officials -- explained the rules and risks of beginning to drive to over two dozen families. This award winning program is sponsored and administered by the University of Georgia and is designed to address driver attitude, knowledge and behavior of both the parent and new teen driver.

Safe Teen Driving Club donated a Vehicle Reporter to a father who attended the session with his son. “We are grateful for the continuing support of the Safe Teen Driving Club,” said Alan Brown, Chairman of the Joshua Brown Foundation. “The Club’s focus on educating parents and teens about driving safety and helping parents protect our teens is a perfect compliment to our mission.”

Driving crashes are the number one cause of death among young drivers 15 to 20 years of age, and over 300,000 teens go to the emergency room – many with life-changing injuries -- every year as a result of vehicle crashes. The Safe Teen Driving Club provides an array of services and practical information to parents that allow them to get involved to better monitor and coach their youngsters. According to Club CEO, Allan Ramsay, "Parents can have a positive impact on their teen’s driving behavior by taking advantage of the services we offer – which have been proven for over a decade in managing driving performance and reducing the crash rate. They can limit the risky driving behaviors that teens so often exhibit. But most important, parents can now have an unambiguous view into their teen's actual driving behavior, which is vital in setting effective driving rules and guidelines."
