William Sharp School took an unusual step with its year 10 media students. Their Brief was to create a fully functioning record label and to record an album with pupils from the school. The students got to work and Sharp Records was created.
The students have recorded original tracks with billboard award winning producer Jordan Milnes, who has worked with Geri Halliwell and Jamelia, and are set to release their debut album in january 2008, worldwide on itunes, napster and other major online distribution sites.
The label promotes youth artists in a variety of different genres. The students have already appeared on ITV News, Trent FM, Radio Nottingham and in the Nottingham Evening Post. They are now working with Tanya Reed, a london PR specialist, who is working with the label on promoting the launch of the album.
The student performers are managed by a team of media studies students, who are organising all their publicity material and internet promotion.
Sharp Records is a not for profit media project. All the profits help maintain the provision for the students.
