Reasons Our Government Has Failed Us |

Nov 28, 2007 -- /prbuzz/ --Brooklyn, NY 11/27/07 Our government has been on a decline every since the Republicans won both the Congress and the Presidency. During the Gingrich revolution the republicans had been able to fool the public into to believing they were the best to govern this great country. They have been rewarded with reelection while accomplishing absolutely nothing. Remember the Clinton years, when Gingrich and the republicans got credit for helping to turn the country around. Well the truth of the matter is that it was the President that exacted that result. President Clinton vetoed bills when he did not believe it would accomplish what it was legislated to accomplish. There was even the government shutdown which spawned Monica Lewinsky. Newt acted like a child about his seat on the plane ride with the president. So the country decided it needed to elect some more grownups to go along with the great reconstruction Republican Congress, and elected Bush/Cheney.
Since they have been in charge with a president who has just recently realized he could veto legislation, they have accomplished nothing but disaster for America. While the tax cuts have been touted as a great accomplishment, what else have they done? Immigration is supposedly a pressing issue. The republicans and the president could have rammed through Congress immigration reform anytime they wanted in the past 7 years. In fact the president and the Republican led Congress could not come to agreement on legislation pertaining to the issue. Now Congressman Tancredo, Congressman Bilbray, Pat Buchanan, and others of that elk are ramping up in the media illegal immigration as the republicans’ great white hope. This issue will supposedly give the Republicans an edge in the upcoming General Presidential Election.
The problem is if people really pay attention and not get bogged down with the media bias in defeating or derailing Hillary Clintons presidential campaign, this strategy will be revealed for what it is another attempt to fool America. Trent Lott the second most powerful Republican in the Senate has announced his retirement, Former speaker of the house Dennis Hastert has announced he is leaving his congressional post also. There is absolutely nothing wrong with retiring from an occupation that you have been in for such a long time. The problem is that it reveals the truth in what the Republicans has really been up to. The retiring Senators and Congressmen are not leaving early because they figure it is time to change occupation. They are leaving now and before the end of the year, because of the lobbying reform that has passed through the new Democrat majority. It would force them to sit on the sideline for 2 years before becoming eligible to lobby the Government.
I do not know about most Americans but I would be extremely disappointed in someone I put my trust in and voted for, to find out in the end it was all about the money. These gentlemen have fooled their states and districts into sending them back to congress to represent their needs based on lies. They are always talking down about the liberal elites and the lobbyist. How government needs to be cut because it is too large and intrusive.
America please pose to yourself the following Questions before this primary and general election while pondering these facts. Will the politician of whom I grant my vote actually go to Washington to represent my county, city district, state, or country, as they have campaigned to do? Fact Immigration reform, abortion, gay marriage, and tax cuts has only come up during election years. If the tax cuts needed to be made permanent why an election should be decided on that issue? If the borders needed to be policed better why should an election be decided on this issue? With abortion being a Supreme Court decided law why should an election be decided on this issue? If gay marriage is such a pressing matter why should and election be decided on that issue? All these issues could have been legislated in years past, but they have not and will not be addressed because they are only used as election tools. The new presidential question is Change or Experience. Mr. Bush and Mr. Cheney came in as the new candidates for change. Mr. Bush could work well with Democrats and Republicans bringing change to Washington and getting things done. Sounds sort of like the Barrack Obama Campaign Theme. America please pay attention and let us start to elect the best candidates for this country not the media darling or most swift on the campaign stump.
About Us: UP1STOP is a brain child of mine built to give voice to the everyday citizen where all other media has failed. Since being retired I now have a lot of time to follow politics, economics, technology and all types of issues. Most media outlets have the same old tired Commentary and Blogs. I started my own website to get our point of view into the mainstream media. Maybe it’s just my personal bias, but my Journal speaks more to the daily effects and needs of mainstream America. More than most I’ve encountered on the web.
