Psychedelic Folk Artist Shows in Soho

New York - February 2007:  With echoes of the furry teacup, Apryl Miller creates a piece of furniture that is completely impossible to use.  Starting with an ordinary coffee table, Miller has encrusted it with treasures you could get out of one of those pincer machines on Coney Island.  It has become gaudy and covered in geegaws, including clown heads inside a transparent box.  Like a New Orleans jazz funeral, it celebrates something sad and turns your perception on its head.  It is titled “The Silence of Love and Families” and continues in the vein of her large installation shown last month at a Midtown gallery.
