Politics and Technology
Sep 05, 2007 -- /prbuzz/ --The last few months have seen much discussion on two issues, the 123 nuclear agreement with USA and the gas price approval for RIL's KG Basin Gas Field. In fact the irony is that these developments which are a source of pride and joy for the nation as a whole are being attacked by persons driven by considerations that are certainly not in national interest. On the contrary they are driven by greed, lust for power and limited vision. The relevant point of discussions and pride are lost in this acrimony by a handful of politicians in this age of transparency and accountability.

The Left parties have recently found powers which they never had and naturally have never learnt to appreciate the value of accountability. They have never cared for facilitating access to technology resources for people and the recent examples of mindless opposition only go on to prove this point. The move to oppose the nuclear deal and derail India 's largest gas development project are subversive attempts by a section of India 's political class led by Mr Fix IT (Amar Singh). That this gentleman has a legendary track record of causing rift in families and industrial houses and brokering political powers with industrial families with the benefit of sponsored seat has never is known to all. This SP MP has shot off over a dozen letters on his official stationery for the sole motive of serving his personal interests and the interests of his so called Elder and Younger Brothers. The letters that he has shot off, as can be seen from the language used, seem to have originated from the stable of his benefactors as many would find it difficult to digest that Singh has any knowledge of gas industry, technology or the knowhow of implementing world-class class facility. Amar Singh perhaps can never speak about the value of GAS in 'MMBTU' terms nor can be speak about 'MMSCD' and another technical and commercial terms that his letters contain.

If one reads through the letter it is clear that his letterpad is being used by someone else. After he tested failure in his attempt to split India 's much admired and only world class company Reliance Industries Ltd, Singh is now running a vicious campaign against RIL and its managers. The modus operandi is to shoot off letters to the leaders of the country making wild and baseless allegations against respected officials. Singh seems to have forgotten that that in life "Credibility" is the key word and which naturally he has never possessed. Neither has he attempted to acquire 'class and credibility' which are non-tradable traits.
Mr. Amar Singh and on many occasions his sympathizers from the Left and other parties continue to allege irregularities in the functioning of respected and hard working civil servants and admired business leaders.
Their latest distasteful campaign leveled against India's widely admired and visionary leader Shri Mukesh D. Ambani and his world class projects in the Oil and Gas sector demonstrated his desire to derail and delay, by any means, critical and vital core sector projects that are important symbols of the economic prosperity of India . His evil design to derail the RIL project proves his complete lack of understanding of the ABC of business and economics and his perverse obsession with distorting the truth. His accusations clearly seem to be emanating from his Elder and Younger Brothers. Mr. Singh and his cronies in certain political parties have raised objection to issues that have been admired and approved by 3-4 independent and Government Bodies and it only demonstrates his apathy towards India and its Institutional Rule of Law.
It is surprising why there has not been even a whisper of protest from the likes of Amar Singh and his colleagues in the Left parties on the Rs.19500 crore refinery project of 9 million tonnes per year being implemented by Government Firm HPCL and Laxmi Narain Mittal.
Mr Singh should know that RIL is setting up a refinery more advanced and complex with over 300 percent higher capacity at nearly the same price (approved to 20000 ltrs) which proves the ability of RIL to create the most cost effective Refineries in India and abroad. Yet RIL is accused of High Capital Worth. This is nothing but a shameful and motivated campaign against the credentials of RIL. It is high time Mr Singh took a leaf out of Reliance's book on creating world-class infrastructure and asked his brothers to learn from it than merely wishing for profit through trading.
