Philadelphia-area Tech Leaders Launch DreamIt Ventures and Call for Funding Applications

DreamIt will Provide Pre-seed Funding and Guidance to Aspiring Technology Entrepreneurs

Three successful Philadelphia-area technology entrepreneurs and investors announced Thursday the official launch of DreamIt Ventures I, LLC, a pre-seed investment fund providing startup capital and business guidance to aspiring technology businesses, catapulting selected businesses from concept stage to market-ready companies in three months.

DreamIt will offer selected start-up companies up to $30,000 in pre-seed funding, the advice and guidance from a team of hand-selected business advisors and “gurus”, counsel and services from leading law firms and accounting firms to form their companies, and a rostrum of nationally recognized speakers to provide insight into launching great companies. DreamIt Companies will also have the opportunity (if they want) to work with fulltime C-level business strategists.

Applications for DreamIt ‘08 are being accepted now through March 12, 2008.

“We saw a real need for this kind of start-up firm,” said Steven Welch, co-founder of DreamIt Ventures. “There are thousands of entrepreneurs out there who with opportunity, guidance, introductions to the right people and initial funding can transform their ideas into the next wave of great companies. It is these Innovators that DreamIt wants to help.”

Up to 12 companies will be selected to participate in DreamIt ’08, and from mid-May through mid-August will focus exclusively on developing their products and businesses. The program culminates with a Funding Day, where DreamIt Companies will have the chance to present their companies to venture capitalists, angel investors and other funding sources.

“In addition to pre-seed capital, DreamIt is providing a platform for success,” said Welch.
