Aug 21, 2008 -- /prbuzz/ -- Employers from over 30 media groups comprising nearly 100 media outlets attended, making it one of the largest dedicated broadcast media job fairs in the schools history. Participants included CBS Radio, Metro Networks, Clear Channel Radio, ABC-TV, Gray Television, FOX-TV and notable independent stations like Relevant Radio. These were just a few named among many other local, regional, and national media outlets.

Graduates had the opportunity to network and receive on the spot job interviews with numerous media executives from top stations. “I’ve never seen so many opportunities for individuals seeking jobs in broadcasting and all under one roof” said Dorse Kelly, Human Resource Director for WBEZ Public Radio. “Your graduates displayed confidence in searching for positions ranging from Sales to Creative Videography and their passion reminds me why I got into TV in the first place."’ exclaimed William Barroso, HR ABC-TV.

The event also promoted the new Ohio and Illinois Centers for Broadcasting Job Placement website: www.funjobsonair.com. The new site allows graduates to upload their audio and video demos directly, along with resumes and other supporting materials, enabling employers to directly and discretely search OICB graduate talent as well as post their job openings. This innovative job placement tool is the first of its kind among broadcast media career schools, and will serve to improve the job search process for graduates and employers alike.

Also introduced at the fair was The Illinois Center for Broadcasting’s new sports radio station www.icbsportschicago.com. Students at the school receive hands on training in the art of sports broadcasting. Programs on the radio station are as devised as Sports Radio itself, ranging from Sports Talk/Updates to Live Remote Play by Play web casts. The sports station is another innovation at The Illinois Center for Broadcasting, which carries a rich history of unsurpassed “hands on academics” for its students.
The Ohio and Illinois Centers for Broadcasting are nationally accredited schools that provide the tools needed for pursuit of an exciting career in radio and television. Students develop expertise in all aspects of broadcast media (in front of the camera / microphone, and behind the scenes in audio and video production, etc) while learning from the broadcasting industry’s top professionals. Students also work with industry professionals on a daily basis through unsurpassed internship opportunities in major markets.
