FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
New Clinical Study Shows Limbrel™ is an Effective G.I. Friendly Alternative to Naproxen for Knee Osteoarthritis
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – Nov. 16, 2007 Physicians now have good news for their osteoarthritis patients, especially those who want to avoid gastrointestinal (GI) side-effects.
Findings presented last Thursday at the American College of Rheumatology in Boston, showed a dramatic increase in serious gastrointestinal complications that can lead to bleeding, hospitalization or even death as patients and physicians have been forced to use more naproxen (Aleve®) and ibuprofen (Advil®) for osteoarthritis pain since the withdrawal of Vioxx and similar drugs.
A recent clinical study compared a prescription product called Limbrel with naproxen. Limbrel was shown as effective as naproxen in providing overall improvement, including mobility, stiffness and joint discomfort for knee osteoarthritis. The difference is that Limbrel addresses the underlying metabolic cause rather than just treating the symptoms, minimizing the risk of serious GI side effects associated with other prescriptions.
The Limbrel versus naproxen clinical study was presented at the 7th International Cartilage Repair Society World Congress recently held in Warsaw, Poland. The results showed there is a GI friendly choice that is effective for osteoarthritis patients.
Osteoarthritis is the number one cause of disability in the United States affecting more than 25 million Americans, or one in 8 adults. Once commonly thought to be a wear-and-tear or aging disease, recent evidence suggests that there are metabolic factors involved in worsening damage to joints over time.
Limbrel is a prescription medical food product for the clinical dietary management of the metabolic processes of osteoarthritis. For more information on Limbrel, please visit www.limbrel.com
