SHORT STORY CONTEST GIVES AREA STUDENTS CHANCE TO BE PUBLISHED
Infinite Xpression Publishing offers aspiring young authors a chance to win prizes,
appear in book

DETROIT, Mich., Apr 08, 2007 -- /prbuzz/ -- Detroit-based publisher, Infinite Xpression Publishing, has announced a short story writing contest for area middle and high school students, giving them a chance to have their work appear in a compilation book later this year. The book, Young Xpressions will showcase works from Detroit’s best and brightest aspiring young authors.

“As a company, we want to invest in the future of young people by encouraging them to express themselves creatively,” said Shannon Wilson, Associate Publisher, with Infinite Xpression Publishing. “This opportunity gives students a chance to develop their writing skills and potentially see their short story in appear in print.”

The contest is open to students ages 14 -18 currently attending school in Wayne, Washtenaw, Oakland, Genesee and Macomb counties. Submissions will be accepted through the Infinite Xpression website (www.IXPublishing.com) from April 1 through May 11, 2007 and can follow any theme, as long as the material is suitable for teenage readers - no profanity, sexual themes or extreme violence. Winners will be announced, no later than June 20, 2007.

General entry guidelines:

1. All submissions must be typed, double-spaced and not exceed 3000 words. All submissions must include a cover page that includes the title of the short story; the author’s name, address, email address, and telephone number(s); and a two paragraph synopsis of the storyline.

3. Authors may not submit more than two manuscripts for the short story contest.
4. Short stories sent to Infinite Xpression Publishing may not be submitted to any other publisher or publication while under consideration.

First, second and third place winners will receive U.S. Savings bonds and will be featured in the compilation book, entitled Young Xpressions. Twenty other submissions, as selected by a panel of judges, will also appear in the book. All students entering the contest will have their name in the book as an honorable mention.
