Tony Kondaks loved buying silk ties and polo shirts on eBay. But there was a problem.

“With about 30% of my purchases, the colors didn’t match the colors in the images I saw on my computer monitor,” said Kondaks. “A blue-green polo shirt on the eBay View Image Page turned out to be yellow-orange when it arrived.

“I needed something that would tell me whether what I was seeing was what I would get. And that’s why I created iDepict.com(tm),” he said.

The iDepict.com system is simple to use and inexpensive for both viewers and displayers. Here’s how it works: a test-pattern-like graphic printed on 8.5” X 11” standard card stock is photographed or scanned alongside the item to be displayed on the internet. When viewing this combined image on his monitor at home, the viewer holds up a hardcopy of the exact same graphic next to his monitor and compares: if the colors on the graphic appearing on the monitor match the colors of the graphic in his hand, then the viewer is assured that the image accurately depicts the actual item. If they don’t match, then there is not an accurate depiction.

What if the viewer doesn’t own his own hardcopy? iDepict.com provides the option of visiting their website where a digital version of the graphic is universally available. Opened up in a separate internet window, the viewer can compare the graphic appearing beside the item to the website’s graphic. Although not ideal -- owning one’s own hardcopy is the best way to compare -- it‘s the next best thing, thanks to iDepict.com’s “patent green” feature (see website for more details).

“With iDepict.com, the viewer uses his own eyes and common sense to evaluate the image”, said Kondaks. “No fancy technology or expertise is needed…anyone can do it, even a three-year-old! And everyone can easily afford it.” A hardcopy packet, available through iDepict.comä, sells for $9.99.
