HOOT THE ROADWORKS
September 11, 2007
Sep 11, 2007 -- /prbuzz/ --The newly launched website has been setup as part of a campaign to crack down on sluggish roadworkers by hooting roadworks that finish late.

The website lists all major roadworks in England whilst also publishing their deadline dates. After the date has passed the website encourages motorists to hoot the roadworks if they are still there, punishing them for not getting their job finished on time.

Campaign organiser, Giles Marriott, Essex, setup the website after being caught doing 47mph on the M1 where roadworks had caused a reduced speed limit of 40mph.

“There was not a roadworker in sight when I was caught and to add further insult to injury I later found out that those roadworks were over a month late!” commented Giles.

“No commercial business would ever disrupt their customers like the government disrupt road users. We pay enough money each year to have roads we can use. When something goes wrong and work needs to be done the best men need to be on the job working around the clock!

It just seems that so many roadworks finish late, we’re delayed for longer than necessary and nothing is ever done about it.” continued, Giles.

It’s hoped that the no-nonsense scheme will help raise awareness of the issue ensuring more roadworks are finished on time keeping delays to a minimum - people power. For more information and to see where to hoot in your local area logon to www.hoottheroadworks.com.
