Nation - 12/19-07
The increase in toy recalls for lead paint and choking hazards has many parents worried about the safety of their children’s toys. In a recent survey of toy safety, the U.S. federation of state Public Interest Research Groups found many holes in the government’s toy recall system. The most troubling holes for parents are lack of notification about a toy recall and trying to determine if their children’s toys have been recalled. Two mothers, Claire Johnson and Alicia Krall created a personalized toy recall notification service at SmartToyChoice.com to help parents stay informed.
At SmartToyChoice.com parents register their children’s toys in a personal account. When a toy recall is issued, parents receive an e-mail notification, generally the same day, informing them if the recall affects any of their children’s toys. A recall notification from SmartToyChoice.com gives parents the personalized information they need to easily determine which toy is recalled and the recommended action to take. It’s a simple, quick process to stay informed.
Parents can learn more about toy recalls, toy country of origin information and the personalized toy recall notification service by visiting www.smarttoychoice.com. A one-year subscription to the SmartToyChoice.com personalized toy recall notification service is currently being offered for $39.
