Ukiah, CA - - Apr 21, 2007 -- /prbuzz/ -- Four high school sophomores wrote a book on how to use decision making methodology and apply it to getting into college. The four students are now freshmen in college, and are trying to work through their busy schedules to continue promoting their book. We would like to introduce our recently published book, Crossing the Road: A Guide for the College-Bound Chicken. We are recent high school graduates from Developing Virtue Secondary Girls School in Ukiah, California and this book is a guide to how to get into college, written by students for students. The book began as a project in a leadership course we took in tenth grade. Our teachers, Dr. and Mrs. Raymond Yeh, presented us with a seemingly insurmountable challenge: we sophomores, to whom college seemed like a distant and mysterious notion, would write a book guiding other high school students on learning to make the right decisions and take the best actions to reach their goals – in this case, college. In this book we use the idea of a chicken crossing the road as a metaphor for the process a student might choose to decide whether they want to go to college, which college they want to attend, and how to get into the selected college. We use simple flow charts, pros and cons chart, tradeoff analyses, actions plans, and the like to guide students through a step-by-step thinking and planning process. We also help the reader investigate him or herself at a deeper level – a level that is not muddled with statistics, pressure, and opinions. We believe that our book can really help students make the right decisions not only for their future but also for their lives, and so that is why we are trying to ask media from all over California to help us find ways to promote our book. We believe that our book can not only help students to learn more about themselves and take action in their pathway to college, but also realize that anything is possible, even writing a book in high school. Although there are a few blatant typos, we know that our book and the mere idea that students can accomplish seemingly insurmountable goals, can help inspire the youth of today and the youth of tomorrow. Our book is currently available on http://www.bttsonline.org/ and being as we are only students, any help in promoting, any advice, and the buying of our book would be deeply appreciated. Developing Virtue Girls School is located in Ukiah, CA and is known for its setting in a monastery called City of Ten Thousand Buddhas, and for its extremely small but intimate student body. The book was started in the students’ sophomore year in a leadership class, presented as a challenge that initially seemed impossible. Contact Info: Julia Ha 5102890042
