PRESS RELEASE

FIVE THINGS YOU MUST KNOW BEFORE YOU DIE

A popular book tells you there are five places in the world that you must see before you die. But who can tell you what you must know before you die?

The Berks County End of Life Care Coalition has as its mission to inform people what they must know before they die. As crazy as it sounds, people don’t know what they need to know about dying. Most people who die in this country die from diseases that they have suffered with for over a year. Most people die in hospitals despite wanting to die at home. Only about 17% of the people who could benefit from end of life care services ever receive end of life care. Most people who do receive hospice care express that they wish they had known about those services sooner. So why don't most people know about hospice care? The answer is because most people don't stop and think about what they need to know about dying.

Let's face it, death is a depressing topic. But the Berks County End of Life Care Coalition has a solution that makes this topic interesting and enjoyable. Each November the coalition hosts a day long seminar entitled The Final Journey. This year’s seminar will be held at a relaxing conference center. The seminar presenters are experts in the field of end of life care. The seminar is affordable to attend and offers Continuing Education Credits (CEU’s) that are available for the working professional. The seminar is open to the public and presents information that informs attendees about the essentials about end of life care services. At the end of this year’s seminar attendees will have learned the five must knows about dying well.

This year’s seminar will be held at the Bernadine Covent Conference Center in Reading, PA, on Friday November 2, 2007. Interested parties may find out about this year’s seminar by going to the Coalition’s website at, www.EndOfLifeCareCoalition.com or by calling 610-372-3638. If you want to find out how to assure you and your loved ones receive the best possible end of life care, then call the Berks County End of Life Care Coalition, and attend this year’s seminar.
