Aug 29, 2007 -- /prbuzz/ --Quincy, Mass – August 28, 2007 – Fit Mamas Move, a fitness company that helps young mothers ensure good health for themselves and their families, today announced it is expanding to offer stroller fitness classes in Hingham and Stoughton as well as pre-natal classes in Milton. The Company also announced that it has secured exclusive rights to hold classes indoors at the South Shore Plaza in Braintree.
Expansion to Hingham & Stoughton “After a child is born it is hard for many of the new moms to get back into the gym, no matter how hard they try,” said Lauren Hendry, company founder and mother of one and three year old daughters. “Our program helps moms get in shape, meet other new moms and spend quality time with their little ones. And we could not be happier that we have two great partners in the Hingham Recreation Department and the Striar Jewish Community Center in Stoughton.”
Hingham classes will be held at the Hingham Recreation Center located at 210 Central Street in Hingham. Classes will be held on Mondays and Fridays from 9:15am-10:15am. Hingham classes are being jointly marketed by both Fit Mamas Move and the Hingham Park & Recreation Department. Information and sign-ups are available at www.fitmamasmove.com or by calling (781) 741-1464.
“Community health, and especially the health of young families, is central to the mission of the Hingham Recreation Department,” said Hendry. “We know there were many requests for a fitness program for new Hingham moms and we are glad the Hingham Recreation Department chose to partner with Fit Mamas Move to meet that demand.”
The Stoughton program will be held at the Striar Jewish Community Center at 445 Central Street in Stoughton, Mass. Classes will be held on Wednesdays from 10:45am-11:45am. Enrollment is open to all members of the community. Registration and additional information is available by calling Serah at (781) 341-2016 ext. 130.
“Brisk and vigorous physical activity is a key ingredient to a healthy post-partum experience for young mothers, as is getting out of the house and socializing with other new moms,” said Serah Selmon, fitness program director at the Striar Jewish Community Center. “There is already excitement among our members about this great program.”
Now Get Fit For Delivery True to its overall mission of supporting mothers’ health, the Company will begin to support moms while they are still expecting their little bundles of joy. Beginning September 17th, there will be Pre-Natal classes at Fitness Unlimited in Milton. The six week program meets Monday nights from 6:30pm-7:30pm and is geared to the expectant mom. Classes include cardiovascular, strength training and exercises specific to childbirth and beyond designed to help new moms be in better position to bounce back.
No More Rainouts Perhaps the most exciting news for moms who struggle to keep their fitness programs on track is that Fit Mamas Move has secured exclusive rights to use the South Shore Plaza in Braintree for indoor classes whenever the weather prevents classes from being held outdoors. This not only includes rainy days, but also allows Fit Mamas Move to offer winter programs in a facility with enough space for moms to really stretch their legs during brisk walks with their little ones.
“With the South Shore Plaza being our ‘rainy day location,’ we have all the space we need in a beautiful, secure facility with easy access from everywhere and covered parking,” added Hendry. “If it rained for two weeks straight, our moms would not see their fitness programs get derailed. And they can also keep on track through the long cold winter.”
About Fit Mamas Move Fit Mamas Move is more than a fitness class that moms can bring their baby to. It is a carefully designed post-natal program that builds strength, stamina and confidence while also supporting mothers socially and emotionally. Programs are focused on helping women build the energy and strength it takes to care for their children, with the natural result being that moms lose weight, build muscle tone and look and feel better. Exercise is recommended with a doctor’s okay six weeks after childbirth to reduce the postpartum effects many mothers face.
Fit Mamas Move is the creation of Lauren Hendry, a 20 year fitness instructor, personal trainer and wellness director on Boston’s South Shore. An independent venture created by a mom for new and expectant moms, the company offers outdoor and indoor stroller-based fitness classes that follow guidelines set by the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ACOG) and the American Council on Exercise (ACE). Classes are currently available in Braintree, Hingham, Milton, Neponset, Stoughton and Weymouth.
