Fall in Flagstaff: It's the Perfect Season
September 18, 2007
Sep 18, 2007 -- /prbuzz/ --Flagstaff, AZ - September 18, 2007 - There is nothing quite like autumn in Flagstaff. The leaves are changing colors, the days are cooling off and the city is alive with a mix of concerts, art shows, exhibits and festivals.

Enjoy the fall festivities in Arizona's high country with the Festival of Science, September 21 - 30, the Arboretum's Fall Open House, September 29 and the Tour de Fat event with bikes, beer and bands at Wheeler Park, October 6. Be sure to make time to shop in historic downtown, discover Native American cultures at the Museum of Northern Arizona, explore the starry skies at Lowell Observatory or take in the historic charm of the 19th Century Riordan Mansion.

The summer travel season is drawing to a close, but tourism is showing no signs of slowing down. With that in mind, the time is right to head north. Fall into Flagstaff's perfect season as aspen leaves dust the forest floor in a blanket of color with shades of golden yellow, orange and auburn.

Fall in the Coconino National Forest is a leaf-peepers paradise as Aspen trees turn from their summer green to vibrant gold. There is no better vantage point from which to observe this wondrous sight than from the Arizona Snowbowl's Scenic Skyride. In 25 minutes, the Skyride transports guests to an elevation of 11,500 feet, through beautiful Aspen groves.

The Scenic Skyride is open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays through mid-October from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Lunch is served at the Peak Side Café at Agassiz Lodge. The Arizona Snowbowl is located minutes from downtown Flagstaff, at the intersection of Highway 180 and Snowbowl Rd., then 7 miles up Snowbowl Rd.

Scenic Skyride Rates: Adults $10.00 / Juniors (ages 8-12) $6.00 / Seniors (ages 65-69) $8.00 / 7 & Under/70 & Over FREE
