Where have all the singing groups gone? They seem to be a thing of the past. Not so fast… the reemergence of Blaque, brainchild of TLC’s Lisa (Left Eye) Lopes, shatters the notion that girl groups are relics of times gone by.
The upcoming show, Blaque by Pop Demand, chronicles the reintroduction of this already well-known group to the world. Now mentored by Tionne (T-Boz) Watkins, we all get a “front row seat,” as the third biggest-selling girl group of all time, TLC, pass their tiara to the capable hands of the only group truly birthed by the original. There have been many whom have tried to capture the allure and style of TLC; however, Blaque is the only group that can legitimately capture the essence of their predecessors, while incorporating their own distinctiveness, which enables them to move forward in a fresh and thrilling direction.
The three vibrant performers that make up Blaque are: Shamari Fears, Natina Reed, and Brandi Williams; they need not stand in anyone’s shadow. These women are proven artists, stepping back into the scene to recover “music” in its purest form.
Rumor has it that the show will be populated with cameo appearances, by Ronnie DeVoe of New Edition (husband of Shamari Fears), Kurupt (ex-fiance of Natina Reed and father of her son, Tren), T-Boz, and Da Brat, this fly-on-the-wall TV show promises to deliver all that it should. Fans will want to watch as these forcefully dynamic women claim their rightful position in music history.
