California one of the automobile capitals of the world has just been given a new fuel standard ordered by state officials in order to decrease greenhouse gases.
Low-carbon fuel is no longer an option for the state of California, as the low-carbon fuel standard has been passed, requiring transportation fuels to be 10 percent lower in greenhouse gas emissions by 2020. A giant step for the state of California giving it the chance to leap ahead of the biofuel industry, companies like Go Green Home Stores and US Biofuels are already getting a jumpstart on making green alternative biofuels to help both California and the Nation reach their goals.
Go Green Home Stores partners of US Biofuels are both California green companies working together to produce low-carbon fuel from algae, helping reduce greenhouse gases and make the minority a majority. The companies are already making plans for the construction of a new algae plant in Rosemont, CA, which they hope to have up and running by mid-fall and anticipate producing at least 500,000 gallons of biodiesel gas. The two green companies are also currently negotiating with Lyons to use and install biofuel pumps along the west coast of California from Bakersfield to Long Beach. Go Green Home Stores and US Biofuels project to produce approximately 56 million gallons of gas within the next five years when all prospected facilities are up and running.
With companies like Go Green Home Stores and US Biofuels it will be no time before CA meets their goals, giving everyone the opportunity to not only pump cleaner gas but to breathe cleaner air free from harmful greenhouse gases.
The California low-carbon fuel standard will be working in conjunction with other green ideas as well, such as the American Clean Energy Security Act and the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. The current Renewable Fuel Standard, integrated into the American Clean Security Act, calls for 100 million gallons of advanced biofuels in 2010, 1 billion gallons in 2013, and 21 billion gallons by 2022.
“The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act will provide $800 million to the Department of Energy’s biomass program to fund conversion of biomass to biofuels technologies, and $6 billion in loan guarantees for the development of renewable energy systems, including “leading edge biofuel projects” that reduce lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions and are commercially viable. The $6 billion in loan guarantees will leverage and support upwards of $60 billion in project loans from the private sector and other sources,” Center for American Progress.
Although the petroleum industry is saying that the new standard adopted by the state Air Resources Board on Thursday will cost drivers billions due to the blending of gas, state officials and environmentalists beg to differ saying that the low-carbon fuel standard will actually save Californians money by reducing the amount of oil consumption and introducing a new competitive era of biofuels and electric vehicles. According to the Air Resources Board the low-carbon fuel standard will save Californians approximately $11 billion a year when the standard is fully operational in 2020 and reduce greenhouse gases by at least 25 percent.
The low-carbon fuel standard is a positive choice for the state of California, and many environmentalist and green companies like Go Green Home Stores and US Biofuels anticipate the standard spreading amongst the nation.
