Dec 28, 2007 -- /prbuzz/ --Education Portal “Babel” Opens, with Free Web Quest Hosting
Highland Park, NJ - - 12/27/2007 - - The new education portal Babel opened this week, sporting a tool for creating free Web Quests, a lesson plan database, and a growing selection of articles for teachers.
Web Quests are mini-websites created for classrooms. Each Web Quest leads students through a daily or weekly lesson – presenting a task, some online resources, and an ultimate product to be created.
Babel offers teachers a tool to easily create Web Quests. Teachers simply types in the content of each page, and the server automatically generates a website with an interactive menu. Teachers can host an unlimited number of Web Quests for free, and there are no advertisements on the pages that students will access.
A second prominent feature is the user-driven lesson plan database. Teachers can browse the database for lesson plans to use in class, or they can share their own lesson plans to help the database grow.
“This website is all about collaboration,” says creator Brian Rock. “Teachers can only achieve so much alone. If we pool together our resources and share our best ideas, we will be far more ready to achieve our goal – educating the next generation.”
The website also has a collection of articles for teachers. Many of these articles describe instructional methods and provide sample handouts for use in class. Another section contains technology tutorials aimed at teachers.
The website can be found at http://www.teachbabel.com. Questions about the website can be directed to its creator, Brian Rock, at
