November 19th 2007, Apple Valley Ca. – Today Dark Myth Comics (a subsidiary of Dark Myth Production Studios) unveiled its new plan to split the duties of the Editor in Chief, by creating an all new position.
Starting December 1st, the Editor in Chief will be solely responsible for all of the business and development transactions for the company, by overseeing the production of their products, from finding the creative teams to publication of merchandise.
The newly created position of Editorial Director will help fill the vacancies in Dark Myth's top editorial ranks.
The Editorial Director will be the in charge of the editorial department, they will be finalizing all written material, ensuring that all scripts will have no spelling and/or grammatical errors.
So, who has been named as the new Editor in Chief and Editorial Director?
Veteran S.M. Morton, will take up the helm as Dark Myth’s first Editorial Director. She takes over after serving as the Editor in Chief of the company for the past three months. Her comeback to comics follows a six year absence, when then EiC, Terry D. Scheerer stepped down in August due to health issues.
One of Dark Myth’s top coordinators, Mario Martinez was named as Dark Myth Comics’ new Editor in Chief. Martinez, 25, was most recently Dark Myth Production Studios', Print Production Coordinator. In his new role, Martinez will focus on talent management and be responsible for managing content diversity for each title.
“The split seemed only logical,” said David K. Montoya, Chairman and President of Dark Myth Production Studios. “This will increase productivity by twenty-five percent, by having two great minds for both the business and creative aspects.”
Mr. Martinez, who becomes the company's ninth Editor in Chief, was selected over Randolph Lofgren, the founder of the controversial New Wave Comix.
