Dec 12, 2007 -- /prbuzz/ --Verona, NJ, December 14, 2007 — An informal survey has shown that most cakes for special events and celebrations are mediocre at best—both in design and taste. And since cakes that look phenomenal and taste spectacular often prove to add an extra element of class and enjoyment to any occasion, many people are being denied the pleasure they deserve.
A new company called Wildflour is now addressing that dilemma. From guitar-shaped cakes with licorice strings, to daisy cakes that are at once simple and elegant, to chocolate trains riding on donut wheels, to festivals of edible flowers, Wildflour (www.cakesbywildflour.com) has taken custom cakes to an entirely new level, at reasonable prices.
The company is based in the small community of Verona, in Essex County, NJ, and works with customers throughout the area.
“I have decided to use my skills, resources and 20 years of experience as a hobbyist to help more people turn their wildest and sweetest cake wishes into realities,” says founder and owner Bonnie Samberg. “That's what Wildflour is all about. In fact, we like to say we have a three-tiered commitment. One, every cake must be designed and created to meet the specific creative requirements of the people who order them; two, every cake must be made entirely of all fresh, all natural and all edible ingredients; and three, every cake must be utterly delicious.”
Samberg works closely with every client to plan and design special cakes for specific people, groups or events. Such personal attention cannot be found at any conventional bakery, and certainly not at any of the discount wholesale clubs. And considering her experience and the level of customer service she provides, her prices are extremely competitive.
Samberg asks most customers to come to her Wildflour office in Verona to discuss their specific needs, wishes and ideas, to which she adds her own thoughts and know-how. Then, together, they begin the creative process.
Wildflour has made cakes for birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, cast parties, baby showers, teenagers who have passed their driving tests, marching bands competitions and much more. Birthday cakes for children have been made in shapes ranging from dump trucks (with cargos of Oreo crumbs) to dozens of popular cartoon characters. Samberg has also made stylish wedding cakes, some of which are buttercream gardens wrapped with fondant scarfs, or crystallized chrysanthemums floating on multiple tiers.
A portion of every Wildflour sale goes to the New Jersey chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation, to raise funds to help give hope, strength and joy to children with life threatening medical conditions. Wildflour’s website, where there is more information, in addition to a gallery of photos and a list of testimonials, is at www.cakesbywildflour.com, and the phone number is 973-857-7418.
