CANCEL BOYCOTT:
Countrywide ends dangerous subprime products and provides refinancing relief for
Consumers who are in those products

Detroit, MI (9/8/07) - On Friday September 8, 2007, three days after the protest at the Countrywide Home Loans Detroit location, Countrywide Financial National Headquarters released a statement canceling their dangerous subprime products and providing refinancing opportunities to those who hold these subprime products.

Rev. Charles E. Williams II said, “We are happy that Countrywide has changed their policies and also are looking to provide refinancing opportunities to customers who hold their old products.”

Activist and Clergy will now be challenging Countrywide to do more on educating members of the community on financial literacy and credit education.

Pastor D. A. Bullock, “Obviously, the pressure from the Community moved countrywide into action.”

Rev. Charles E. Williams II is the president and Founder of the Mary Church Terrell Council for Community Empowerment. This organization was instrumental in overturning a policy in Redford Township that gave police officers incentives for making tickets quotas. Also, it organized the successful demonstration against DTE’s unfair credit reporting policy. This year Rev. Williams II was featured on WWJ 950 black history month change agents of the present segment.
