Las Vegas, NV Mar 27, 2007 -- /prbuzz/ -- Rana Burr is no ordinary mom. When her son, Montana was diagnosed with autism at the age of 6, she decided to take matters into her own hands.

“I didn’t want to settle for the services that insurance covered or that the school district provided,” she says. “I am trained in music therapy and I know the limitations of all of those modalities. I wanted to do whatever was going to be the most effective and all-encompassing, but I wasn’t sure what that would even look like.” That was until she found Relationship Development Intervention (RDI). The problem was, it was so new that she would have to find her own way to pay for it.

“My husband was in medical school when my son was diagnosed. We were basically living off of student loans and the Montgomery GI Bill. We did not have a lot left over for a cutting edge remediation program like RDI.”

So she turned to the only home-based business opportunity she had ever seen that would pay her well for her efforts: Team National--a company that markets a benefits package designed to save individuals and businesses money on a wide variety of products and services.

“You would think that it would have been obvious that I would use my networking business to pay for my son’s RDI program. But up until that time, I wasn’t making very much with it yet. Most of the people I talked to about my business were in the same situation that I was–no money. How were they going to buy a benefits package? I had to go to work to expand my circle. And now I had a big reason to succeed.”

Fueled by the desire to remediate her son, she began talking to people who were already in business for themselves. “Business owners already have the knowledge to see a good investment. I just presented the Team National benefits package in a light that made sense to them. Once I could get them to see how much money they could add to their bottom line, buying the premium package was pretty much a no-brainer for them.”

After hosting a few people into the business and helping them acquire their own benefits packages, Rana started getting what the company likes to call “comma checks.” “It was so exciting. I got to share my success story with others to help them build their businesses. It was very gratifying.” But that was not the best part.

“I could cry when I think about how I felt writing out my first check for my son’s RDA (a special assessment that is part of the RDI program). It was a dream come true.” She hired Michelle Broeckelmann, an RDI Certified Consultant in St. Louis, Missouri to not only conduct the assessment, but also to provide ongoing support to her family. “RDI was everything that I had hoped for. It is research-based and extremely individualized. Even more importantly, my son is showing outstanding progress on all levels.”

Now that her son is taken care of, Rana is able to devote a little time to herself. “I really enjoy personal development. I have read so many books and listened to so many cds, I could probably qualify for a second bachelor’s degree. If I can be a better mom, a better person, and a better businesswoman, it is all worth it.”

She is very happy that she did not have to leave her home to earn the money she needed for her son. “I met another mom at one of the parent trainings that went back to a 40-hour work week so that her son could have RDI. It was so sad to see.” Of course, she tried to share Team National with her. “Yeah, she decided it wasn’t for her,” then she laughs, “I’ll get her in sooner or later. It is just a matter of timing.”

The fact that Rana was able to pay for her son’s program with just a few hours of work per week has made it easier for her to help other people see the value in having a network marketing business. “I just fit my business around my family. Sometimes I would have to shut myself in my room for a few minutes while I took an important call. I can’t tell you the number of times my upline made fun of me because of the noise coming from my end of the line. But hey, if a busy mom can do it, anybody can.”

When asked who her most important influences have been, she says, “You know, I am in business with some of the most amazing people who inspire me on a daily basis. I would have to say, though, that Jim Rohn and T. Harv Eker have had a great impact on my financial success.”

Rana has nothing but love for her teammates. “The fact that we work as a team makes it so much easier. I don’t have to be the expert. Everyone has different things that they are saving on, so if one of my customers is in the market for a car, I can have them talk to someone on my team who has purchased a car through the company.”

If you’ve gotten the impression that Rana loves sharing the savings from Team National with others, you would be right. “Check out this mattress. My husband complains now whenever we travel because he doesn’t get to sleep on it. It was $500–and the one in the store just like it was $1200. And we’re saving $600 a year on our car insurance.”

Just recently, Rana joined the RDI Scholarship Fund as a business partner. Now, when anyone visits her Team National website at www.bign.com/ranaburr and fills out the form requesting more information, she donates her commission on the sale to help other families provide RDI for their children. “I am thrilled to be able to help. We are so grateful to them [The Connections Center] for so much–for improving the quality of our lives.”

And what advice does Rana offer to those considering looking into Team National as a business venture?
“Determine your reason for getting it done. Your “why” has to be something that you feel really good about. Also, build strong relationships with your teammates–even those from whom you will not benefit by helping. You will be rewarded a hundred-fold–not just in income, but also in friendships. Relax and have fun with it while still treating it like the million-dollar business that it is.”

Rana’s son, Montana, is 11 years old now. He received the Arrow of Light Award, which is the highest award in cub scouting right before crossing over into the Boy Scouts. His friends know him as a sensitive, funny, courageous young man. “RDI will be a part of our lives for many years to come. Now that we live in Las Vegas, we send videos back and forth to Michelle. We are very happy with how things worked out for us.”
