PHILADELPHIA JOB HUNTERS EVENT Provides Employment Solutions

Event Arms Individuals with the Knowledge Needed to Secure Steady Employment

PHILADELPHIA, PA -- October 14, 2009 --  With the Pennsylvania unemployment rate rising from 5.5% in Aug. 2008 to nearly 10% currently, many Philadelphians are aggressively on the “job hunt.” Individuals seeking employment are hungry for assistance in separating themselves from a competitive, and growing, pack of applicants. The upcoming Philadelphia Job Hunters Event will offer the unemployed, recently graduated, or “working and worried” all the skills they need to find meaningful employment.

With the volatile job market in mind, sponsor Integrity Career Transitions (ICT) has worked with corporate and private partners to offer a truly unique, first-of-its-kind statewide event designed to educate Philadelphia area job seekers on all the new innovative strategies for securing meaningful employment. The Philadelphia Job Hunters Education and Networking Event, held on Tuesday, November 10, 2009 from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia, is a completely FREE day of programs open to the public. This event, a sequel to a sold-out event in Wilmington earlier this year, is expected to draw thousands from all over the Delaware Valley region.

"We are doing this in direct response to community and individual needs. Philadelphia has its highest unemployment in 25 years," says ICT Event Manager and Director Joyce Dungee Proctor. "Job hunting has changed, and people have not kept up with the changes. It's time to give people the knowledge and education that will propel themselves forward and stand out in an increasingly competitive marketplace."

Not a traditional job fair, per se, several area employers will be in attendance sharing information about hiring processes, qualifications for promising candidates, and possible job openings. Keynote speakers will address pre-employment topics, such as effective interviewing skills and writing a winning resume. Career coaching sessions will be available free of charge, with local experts answering questions about dressing for success, staying motivated during the job hunt, alternative search ideas for those currently employed, tools for recent grads, and strategies for internet job search. Along with all these valuable services, every attendee will be entered into a drawing for a chance to win $100,000!

“Negative daily news regarding the job market continues to beat down the hopes of any and all job seekers,” said Todd Bavol, the much-respected ‘job search ninja” from ICT. “This event is focused on giving people tools that will not only build hope, but will also get them much-needed results.”

Along with ICT, other sponsors for the event include KiNext, The Philadelphia Business Journal and Philadelphia Weekly. For more information and to register, call 215-207-9550 or visit www.phillyjobnow.com
