Press Release: For Immediate Release
3 April 2007, 1:00pm EST

Apr 3, 2007 -- /prbuzz/ -- Today, The Service-members Stewardship Foundation (The SSF)Advisory Board has announced the dates for 17 Bronzes of the Brave™ statue presentations. The SSF's Bronzes of the Brave project is a national project memorializing ALL of the fallen heroes from the war on terror, and their families across America. Since 1995, The Service-member's Stewardship Foundation is a 501(c)3 Public Charity, under the National Heritage Foundation of, Falls Church, VA.

The mission of TheSSF.org Bronzes of the Brave Project is:

To honor each and every one of more than 3,300 service-members of the United States Armed Forces who have answered the call to duty and given the ultimate sacrifice with high quality, life-like, bronze bust statues.

“The Bronzes of the Brave project is the original re-vitalized bronze statue project begun in 1995 honoring these heroes. After being briefly sidetracked by former advisory board members attempting to highjack the statue project for profit, including the Bronzes of the Brave name and Internet portals, The SSF has once again begun presenting statues. Our goal is to honor the families across America who have lost their sons and daughters, brothers and sisters, and husbands and wives in the war on terror”, said Roy E. Degan, Program Manager for The Service-members Stewardship Foundation, whose father was a world-reknown aviator, discoverer of The Lost Squadron and Glacier Girl, and an Air Force Colonel who proudly served in the Pentagon. "We didn't just learn honor," Degan states, "We lived it. We were very saddened by the alleged attempted hijacking of the honorable Bronzes of the Brave project by our previous board members, (who now constitute the Operation Never Forget board) but we are now back to the business of honoring America's heroes."

Nancy Elizabeth Degan, of Los Angeles, CA and Decker Studios of N. Hollywood, CA have been commissioned to create the bronze statues honoring the brave men and women. “We have a much higher quality bronze bust at a much lower cost, which means we can put the donated money to use where it was meant to go - to the statues! The quality and cost were both major concerns with our previous vendor, but we have American professionals on the job now. Their track record ranges from Churchill Downs to Major Art Collections and presentations world-wide. We are now in a position to offer the very best artistic representations in honor of these brave men and women.

The first Bronzes of the Brave honoree was SSgt. John “Ryan” Howard who was killed in the Al Anbar province of Iraq on 11 August 2004. SSgt Howard was killed in action as the result of a helicopter crash at the age of 26 while serving his second tour of duty in the region. SSgt Howard’s statue is viewable online at www.thessf.org under "bronzes," with pictures and video. (Operation Never Forget is deceptively trying to claim this bronze project as their own, but the video will clearly confirm that it was a Bronzes of the Brave project.)
